Abstract

Monopoly in the perspective of Islamic economics is deliberately holding or hoarding goods, especially in times of scarcity, with the aim of raising prices at a later date in order to gain greater profits. Monopoly practice is a type of violation in muamalah because it will disrupt the market mechanism, so that producers will get big profits, while consumers as a result of hoarding will experience suffering and losses. So, as a result of monopoly, the wider community will be harmed by the actions of a small group of monopolists who are very unjust, selfish, and irresponsible.
